E&Y Targets Gen Y With New Job Search Site

March 24, 2008 (SmartPros) As part of Ernst & Young LLP's focus to recruit a broad talent base of 10,000 employees this year, the firm has launched EY Insight, a careers Web site that provides personalized tools for prospective employees.

The firm's newly designed site, www.ey.com/eyinsight/index.html, was developed specifically for college students in response to their feedback on what they'd like to see on the firm's careers site.

E&Y, a Big Four accounting firm, plans to enhance the site again later this year after obtaining feedback from experienced hires, and is launching the new site now to help give it an edge during the crucial spring recruiting season.

"Our job seekers expect to see real examples of what a career in professional services is really like. This 'Generation Y' audience is increasingly exposed to highly personal media like YouTube and reality television, and they expect the same level of reality from their employers. We developed EY Insight to give them that," said Melissa Taylor, Recruiting Branding & Communications Leader. "The features and tools we've developed for EY Insight are unlike any in the profession and demonstrate the flexibility, opportunities, and guidance college students will receive as full-time employees."

The EY Insight careers Web site is a suite of three tools designed to provide: in-depth views of Ernst & Young employees and the culture at the organization; a comprehensive overview of Ernst & Young's practice areas and opportunities available to job seekers based on their background and interests; and information on how to prepare for an interview.

A news feed is among the features on the Web site, allowing students to sign up for syndication of Ernst & Young news. The EY RSS feed is easy to add to an existing RSS reader. The firm also provides instructions for those who don't currently have an RSS reader set up.

The launch of EY Insight is the latest in several steps by the firm to better connect with Gen Y recruits, which will represent more than half the firm's workforce by 2010. Other initiatives includes its corporate-sponsored recruiting page on Facebook and internal workshops to enhance communication among the three generations of employees who work at the firm. Last fall, Ernst & Young also introduced a video competition among college students. The winning videos are available at www.ey.com/us/reelinfluence.
