FAF Warns of SOX Compliance Scam

April 20, 2007 (SmartPros) The Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) said some of its constituents have been contacted by parties falsely claiming to be members of the Financial Accounting Standards Board staff and promoting the sale of certain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance materials.

FAF said it brought the matter to the attention of the Securities Exchange Commission and law enforcement and urged constituents who are subjected to this scheme to contact their local authorities.

FAF did not provide further details on the FASB Web site, where the notification was posted this week.
