Employees Report Good Relationships With Colleagues, Supervisors Oct. 17, 2005 (SmartPros) Despite the heavy workloads and tight deadlines they may face, employees are happy with the company they keep. Eighty-seven percent of workers polled said they have good relationships with their supervisors; 91 percent feel the same about their relationships with coworkers. The survey, developed by staffing service Accountemps, asked, "In general, how would you describe your relationship with your supervisor?" Their responses:

"Employers seeking to improve retention rates and team continuity must nurture a culture in which employees feel valued and engaged," said Max Messmer, chairman of Accountemps. "Professionals who genuinely enjoy interacting with supervisors and peers not only make the office more enjoyable, but also produce better work and show the greatest motivation and loyalty." Many businesses have made strides in recent years in creating more worker-friendly environments, but Messmer points out the process must be ongoing. "Personnel structures and group dynamics change continually, and managers must be attuned to these shifts, " he said.
