Pro2Net Is Re-launched as SmartPros.com HAWTHORNE, New York, Aug. 6, 2001 (SmartPros) After completing the acquisition of Pro2Net's assets in May, KeepSmart re-launched the well-known, accounting-focused Web site, under the name SmartPros, while also changing its corporate name to SmartPros Ltd. soon after. For members, the acquisition provides a significant advantage as it teams the resources and depth of Pro2Net’s portal, with the experience and strength of KeepSmart, a company that has offered continuing professional education since 1981.
Members can expect the same dedication to providing relevant accounting and finance news and insights, research tools, career resources, CPE and more to support and enrich the careers of accounting professionals and students. Email newsletter subscribers will continue to receive regular email newsletters, and may review and update subscriptions at any time.

Prior to the acquisition and throughout 2000, Pro2Net experienced tremendous growth along with re-branding from the former name it held from 1995 to 1999, AccountingNet.com. The Pro2Net portal expanded rapidly, but was hit hard by economic conditions and the venture funding market in 2000 and 2001. When the company closed its operations in March 2001, it featured more than 100,000 members, over a million pages of content, and on average, 200,000 visits to the site monthly.
In addition to the SmartPros accounting portal, SmartPros will integrate the skills-based Pro2Net courses from the Professional Education Center with its two successful CPE subscription programs, Financial Management Network and The CPA Report, which are utilized by over 60,000 professionals. These SmartPros CPE programs are currently provided to Fortune 1000 companies, public accounting firms and governmental agencies.
